Founded in 1993, Second Chance Companions is a 501(c) 3 non-profit pet organization dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area.

We are a humane, no-kill organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Although we do not run an independent shelter, we feed, care for, adopt out, and spay & neuter as many animals as possible. In addition, we educate the community and are always seeking volunteers and resources that help us to accomplish our mission.

Great Balls of Fur at a new venue this year: Heisen House Vineyards

In addition to being a mother of two, a writer, winemaker, historic preservationist, and local agriculture advocate, Michele Bloomquist, owner of Heisen House Vineyards, is also a lifelong animal lover. From the time she was a child, she's had many animal companions of all shapes and sizes. Over the years Michele has also both adopted pets from Second Chance Companions and also worked with Second Chance Companions to place strays that have shown up on her doorstep when her inn was already full. Michele is thrilled to that Second Chance Companions choose to hold their fundraiser this year at Heisen House Vineyards and she is looking forward to being a small part of this group's very admirable mission. Currently Michele and her family have two dogs (Molly and Sprout) a cat (Willie) and an assortment of egg laying chickens.
